... a fost odată, tare demult, într-un colţ de lume în care cerul se unea cu pământul, în locul în care în fiecare seară Soarele şi Luna se plimbau printre stele, acolo a fost o pădure de aluni. în acea pădure, locuiau toate veveriţele de pe Pământ. Era singura pădure care avea alune în toate anotimpurile: primăvara, vara, toamna, chiar şi iama. Alunii erau vrăjiţi, dacă rupeai o alună, alta creştea imediat la loc ca prin minune.

“Once upon a time, in a comer of the world where the sky was united with the earth, a place where every night the Sun and the Moon walked among the stars, there was a forest of hazelnut trees. In that forest lived all the squirrels on Earth. It was the only forest that had hazelnuts during all seasons: spring, summer, autumn, even winter. The hazelnut tree was enchanted; if you cracked one hazelnut from the tree, the other grew immediately on the spot as if by magic.
